Palisade strengthens investment team on acquisition of Ross River Solar Farm and Sunshine Coast Airport

May 2017.

Palisade Investment Partners (Palisade), a specialist manager of Australian unlisted infrastructure, announced today the appointment of Ben Malone as its new General Counsel, and Vilija Robinson as Investment Associate.

The newly created General Counsel role will be responsible for Palisade’s legal affairs and supporting the investment team with transaction execution and investment management. Vilija further strengthens the investment management team responsible for the management of the existing portfolio and future acquisitions.

Ben joins from Gilbert + Tobin where he was a Senior Lawyer focussed on acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and commercial transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Prior to joining G+T, Ben was a Senior Associate in the energy and infrastructure team at Allen & Overy in London, including a secondment to Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, principally advising their European infrastructure funds on acquisitions and disposals.

Ben had been on secondment with the Palisade team since January, during which time Palisade was awarded the long-term lease of Sunshine Coast Airport and reached financial close on the 148MW Ross River Solar Farm near Townsville.

Vilija joins Palisade from NSW Government Health Infrastructure, where she has spent the past four years in a range of initiatives including the Health Partnerships program for the procurement of hospitals and associated infrastructure.

Roger Lloyd, Managing Director & CEO of Palisade said: “The appointment of Ben as an experienced transactional lawyer, and Vilija with her experience in Government really strengthens and broadens the skill set of Palisade’s investment team in a period where we are seeing an increased number of opportunities across the mid-market.
