As General Manager of Growth at Intera Renewables, Mike is on the lookout for new clean energy development projects to bring into the portfolio. He is responsible for evaluating projects from a technical and market perspective, performing due diligence, supporting ongoing developments and guiding overall strategy to maintain a strong asset balance.
Prior to joining Intera, Mike spent 20 years working in various roles on wind farm, solar farm and battery energy storage projects in Australia and overseas. Working with developer Wind Prospect in the Australian market Mike gained valuable experience in aspects of the development, financial close and construction of several large wind farms including the Hallett cluster and Snowtown wind farm in South Australia. This was followed by several rounds of prospecting for new sites undertaken in Western Australia and New South Wales.
Mike took several opportunities to gain boarder experience in other markets including working in Canada looking at early stage north American wind projects, building Wind Prospect’s capabilities in Thailand and China, and while based in the UK he managed a team of energy resource specialists assessing projects in the UK, Ireland, France, Poland and South Africa.
Returning to Australia, Mike made the move to CWP who had formed a joint venture with Wind Prospect to develop a portfolio of projects in New South Wales. Over the next 10 years this saw over 600MW of wind projects reach commercial operation, a solar farm portfolio creation and sale, expansion to new markets in Queensland and Victoria, experience in procurement for wind, BESS and solar projects, and the challenge of navigating an increasingly complex grid connection process. The CWP Australian business was subsequently sold to Squadron Energy where Mike continued to work in a senior role providing technical oversight to the portfolio of renewable assets.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science from Adelaide University.
